Mossberg MVP LC Rifle Review

Date: 13-12-2020

The Mossberg MVP series of rifles were rolled out at SHOT Show 2015. Since then, the model has become available in several different configurations and calibres. The rifle supplied to me was in .223 Rem/5.56mm NATO calibre – a versatile chambering that will be familiar to all New Zealand shooters. The test rifle supplied by the Mossberg importer, J P B Furley & Co in Auckland, was a Light Chassis (LC) variant of the MVP rifle.

The Mossberg Varmint Predator (MVP) series of rifles have quickly gained a deserved reputation in the marketplace as being both functional and accurate; the rifle supplied certainly did not disappoint.

The accuracy of this little rifle is a real confidence builder for the shooter. Couple this with a good optic and good ammunition, and it’s generally bad news for any small to medium-sized game that gets in the way.

I reluctantly boxed the Mossberg up to return to the importer knowing that some other lucky person will get to enjoy this rifle for a lifetime of accurate service. I was impressed with the MVP LC in all aspects of its performance. It fed rounds reliably and shot consistently well with all the ammunition I tested.
